Wrong Verification – Return Never Completed

A salaried person filed his income tax return on time and thought the job was done. But he forgot one crucial step – e-verification.

📑 His return status showed “submitted” instead of “verified”. ⚠ Since it wasn’t verified, the Income Tax Department didn’t process the return at all. 💸 That means no assessment, no refund, and technically the return was treated as if it was never filed.

❌ Mistake: Filing without completing e-verification. 💡 Lesson: Filing the return is just half the work. You must also verify it (either through Aadhaar OTP, net banking, EVC, or by sending a signed ITR-V to CPC, Bengaluru).
