GST Update: New Changes in Invoice Management System (IMS)

Team GSTN has introduced key updates to simplify compliance. Here’s a quick summary for taxpayers and businesses: ✅ Pending Action for Specified Records Certain records can now be kept pending for one tax period (monthly) or one quarter (quarterly). This includes: • Credit notes or upward amendment of credit notes • Downward amendment of credit notes or invoices (with conditions) • ECO document downward amendments (with conditions) ✅ Declaring ITC Reduction Amount If Input Tax Credit (ITC) was never availed, no reversal is required. Where ITC is partly availed, reversal is limited to that amount. IMS now allows you to declare and reverse ITC fully or partially. ✅ Save Remarks Option Taxpayers can now add remarks while rejecting or keeping records pending. These will show in GSTR-2B for future reference. Effective From October Tax Period The new rules apply to records filed by suppliers after the rollout.
